Zoe gives birth
Rescue of a dog is not always because the dog is injured, often it is in danger.
Zoe, a short legged black dog was rescued to the shelter for her own safety as well as the young pups she was about to give birth to.
A couple of weeks ago, Care for Dogs went to a hotel car park in Chiang Mai to help the staff there to find homes for several puppies that were likely to join the homeless dog population in Chiang Mai. Little did we know we would also find a pregnant dog, due to give birth at any time.
This morning, Zoe gave birth to 3 healthy pups and as you can see in the photo, she is a very proud Mother.
If you have ideas for names for the little ones, do let us know. We are always looking for new names for dogs that come to the shelter.
The principle of rescuing pregnant dogs is three fold, in that Care for Dogs can not only offer the mother a comfortable and safe place to give birth and take any necessary steps to assist the pups grow healthily, it also makes sure the pups have a good chance of not joining the homeless numbers by trying to socialise them early on & find them homes through adoption. And thirdly and as equally important to us, we ensure that once the mother has finished feeding her babies, she will be sterilised and then returned to where she came from. Well that’s if nobody adopts her too in the meantime !

She is beautiful!! and so are the pups! I hope they all find a home soon!
Congratulations Zoe!! Indeed you do look very proud. How about naming 1 of the pups ‘Luke’ after the vet from Worldwide Vet Service (WWVS) in honour of the exceptional health service he provided on his recent visit. The other pups could be named after the film crew but we’re missing one!
