Urgent home needed for Dom Mee; dog with a taste for chicken!
You may have read the recent articles on the Care for Dog website, Tragedy at the Temple and Now Dave Disappears along with last Monday’s vet trip concerning 3 out of the 12 dogs that reside at Wat Nong Pla Mun.
Whatever happened on that ill-fated day of June 11th, left one dog dead, one that has mysteriously disappeared, and two that were injured, one severely. There is no absolute proof, but then there seldom is concerning street dogs, but circumstances point to the events having something to do with chicken chasing, a common sport amongst dogs in Thailand. With chickens left un-cooped and running freely amongst the neighborhood…it is common for dogs to see them as fair game for their natural instincts, often with tragic results!
Dom Mee, small and sweet, less than a year old, seems to have a fondness for chasing chickens and was slightly injured on that day leaving her with a visible limp which has now mended. The Lung Por (Abbot) stated that he was one of the main culprits of the temple dogs and was responsible for the killing of 3 local chickens in the past. Due to the cruelty that was dealt to the dogs last week, the Hand to Paw Outreach along with the Lung Por and Care for Dog Team surmise that Dom Mee’s life is in serious jeopardy.
We are urgently seeking a loving home for Dom Mee. Albeit her love of poultry, Dom Mee is a sweet mannered dog, loves to be petted and cuddled. She is always one of the first dogs to greet us when we arrive at the temple and has a ferocious appetite for a dog of such small stature and usually manages to get three times the bones that the other dogs receive.
If you have the room in your home and in your heart for Dom Mee, please contact Care for Dogs and we can arrange for you to meet Dom Mee at the temple or the shelter.
