Tranformation: Shelter to Family, Bell becomes Willy

Always happy to receive infos about our adopted dogs, it was good news when Brian send us an email telling about the first steps of the “doggie formerly known as Bell” in his new family.

Knowing that it takes a bit more patience to integrate a shy dog into her new family, we’re especially grateful that Brian don’t shrink back facing this task and be sure he’ll be rewarded by a faithful new companion.

Here his message (Bell is the black and white one):

I collected Bell from the dog rescue yesterday. She was extremely subdued and I was a bit concerned; she just lay on the floor of the car and looked singularly
unhappy. However, getting her home, she immediately found the dog bed by herself and took up residence. Later, she enjoyed a good meal and her appetite was good. I was very concerned as to how she and Sandy, my other dog would react together, but my fears were unfounded. The only thing, Sandy is somewhat
jealous, so I have to give equal fuss to both dogs.

Not too keen on the name Bell, so she’s been renamed Willy, (short for Wilhemena), after her much loved predecessor. She is now settled, but is obviously a very, very shy dog, and will take time to adjust. She doesn’t like the lead or going for a walk, yet. She explored the garden and I assume it’s OK for her. She has
followed Sandy’s lead, and sits patiently hoping for scraps when Noi’s mum does some cooking in the rice house.

So, looking good – I attach some pics,

Yours aye Brian.

" Being part of the team I think, was so much more effective. If alone, I would only have given a street dog some food for few days, not knowing what else to do in a strange town when seeing a sick dog. Joining with the other volunteers at CfD, I was part of a steady approach. You give dogs some hope for a better life and don't have to disappoint them when they might wait on you, when your plane already took off. Here is a team and it's just another friendly face, the next (holiday) volunteer will take up your work. [More about Michael]"
