Time to say Good Bye
Our dear Sheena is not with us any more.
She fought her battle against lymphoma with dignity and strength.
A week ago she had already a very poor blood result, but still looked amazingly well. Soraya had looked at her and said: “Can’t we just pretend that this result doesn’t exist?”
Sheena was well a few more days more but went downhill the last two days, wasn’t eating any more, getting weak, her gums completely white, her red blood cells on a record low (PCV 5) and her liver getting worse as well.
We didn’t want to extend her suffering and decided to let her go peacefully with the help of Dr. Chakkrit.
Sheena was one of our long-term shelter residents. Ally and I had picked her up from Wat Nong Baa Klang 3 years ago, the temple where the NIS-CfD school project had started. What was meant to be a temporary stay for mange treatment turned into 3 years being with us after we found out that she had lymphoma.
Amandine did research about her chemotherapy in USA and we got amazing results but in the long run the tumor came back. Sheena was loved by team and volunteers, she was a strong personality with soulful eyes.
Sheena, we will miss you.
Rest in peace.
Love from all of us.

You fought hard for a long time Sheena. Now you can rest in peace – or run around if you like:) I will miss you…..
damn, she was such a strong girl! i will really miss her. she fought death so many times. everytime we thought it is getting worse, she showed us her strength and got better! she definitely earned her own cloud up in heaven
sheena, that you lived so long with such a serious illness shows what what strength and willpower you had. your 4 years at cfd shelter were possibly the best of your life and you were given so much love and affection by so many of us that it is little wonder that you chose to fight for so long. love you sheena…
