Dogs are wonderful creatures and they have a special place in my heart. I respect them and their great personalities very much. I wished that we humans could perceive the animals´ strong souls in a more intense way. The world could be a better one if we accepted that animals are not in the least inferior to us. The fact that animals of all species are suffering worldwide, is mainly mankind´s responsibility. We destroy their natural habitat, we domesticate them first only to abandon them later, we abuse them as livestock.

Organisations like Care for Dogs are step by step contributing to repairing this damage we cause and to alleviate the suffering. This is hard work which never ends. But the effort is worthwile, also for us humans. I had the pleasure of experiencing this myself as a volunteer at Care for Dogs. To work for and with the animals is an enrichment and made me happy and satisfied.

I always feel that CfD´s shelter was only around the corner and that I could easily visit anytime and be with the dogs. But I live in Austria, practically on the other side of the world, where I do my best to make my own dog happy. All the more I am glad that I have the chance to be active for Care for Dogs from a far distance – by supporting the translation team and by organizing fundraising activities with the help of caring friends. During daily work with the dogs at Care for Dogs I have learned one very important thing: each step counts, no matter how small it may seem.
