I came from a family that used to have dogs and cats. Looking back makes me realize how badly we treated our dogs. We were excited about them for a while, just like we have a new toy, then we got bored and ignored them. Thankfully my mum tried to look after them the best way she knew how. We as kids never knew how to treat dogs, never knew what commitment we needed to give to them. We never even knew that walking dogs is essential.
Before I volunteered at Care For Dogs I never thought twice about stray dogs or temple dogs. But volunteering for CFD as a translator gives me a chance to know a lot about how horrible and brutal these dogs are treated.
It makes me wonder why our government just simply ignores such situations. I do not expect that the prime minister will come and rescue these dogs himself but at least there should be some nationwide organization that helps animal as well as educates people that animals are not different to humans.
A new perspective toward animal is needed to be taught to both adults and children.
I am very grateful for CFD because they have been helping dogs and cats around Chiangmai, as many as they come across. Looking after hundreds dogs and cats is not an easy task. So for me to be part of an organization which relies on unconditional love is wonderful. My eyes have been opened up a lot more. Not only the dogs’ world will change but your world will change too.
