From an early age, dogs have played a big part in my life, they became precious friends and companions sharing good and bad times with me.

When I got the possibility to volunteer at Care for Dogs and contribute to the well being of the animals, giving a little bit back to them what they gave me in my life, I was over the moon and jumped at the opportunity.

I assist the guys with maintenance work and any construction improvements that the shelter environment needs and also, together with my partner Helen, carry out the Adoption PR for our dogs on a monthly basis which not only improves their chances to find a new home but also raises awareness. Apart from that I am totally enjoying the dog welfare tasks of shelter work. My time at Care for Dogs is the most rewarding work that I have ever done. I love the dogs, each one has its own character and it is great to get to know them. Though there can be sad stories at times, there are many happy ones as well that prove that the shelter is doing an absolutely fantastic job.

I look very much forward to being a part of Care for Dogs for the foreseeable future and see the continued success that the shelter achieves in so many ways. It’s great to see dogs recover from life’s traumas and end up leaving the shelter as family pets.
