Noi Nna’s Follow up Rescue

By Anne • Feb 12th, 2010 • Category: Adoption Follow Ups

I want to find someone who can do the adoption follow up visits once a week, since they are so crucial, as you might understand now.

So please, anybody who is interested in helping the shelter team, whose team members are very, very busy with lots of equally important work regarding the well being of the dogs, please don’t hesitate to contact them and offer your help for 3-4 hours (one evening) per week. In doing the adoption follow up visits, you would fulfill a very important part in the care for dogs’ team work for the dogs!

Anne – From Berlin to Chiang Mai

By Anne • Feb 12th, 2010 • Category: Volunteer Feedback

I came to Chiang Mai in December 2009 and it was my first time in Thailand. I was amazed to see so many street dogs. And because I love dogs very much and had never seen this many street dogs before in my life, I was really overwhelmed and I didn’t really know how to [...]

Calling all animal lovers

By Ally • Dec 19th, 2009 • Category: Wat Nong Pla Mon

We’re looking for volunteers!

If you are reading this notice it must be because of your concern for many of our 4-legged friends! Often times one has the need or want to volunteer in some way, but have limited time, located on the opposite side of Chiang Mai from the Care for Dog shelter, or simply unsure as to what you could do to help.

We are looking for interested, compassionate adults who would like to be part of a new Prem community outreach initiative called “Hand to Paw”. This project is designed to care for the dogs currently living at three temples located in the surrounding area around The Prem International School in Mae Rim.

A Very Happy Ending!

By Gill • May 30th, 2009 • Category: Already found a home

Andy (photographed with Jojo here ) and Veronika had previously visited Happy Gambol Dog Training and Boarding Facility near Mae Rim, where the proprietors Patrick and Nok had suggested that when visiting the Care for Dogs shelter, they should take time to watch out for the dog that adopted them, a dog that was just naturally drawn to them.. and Jo Jo certainly was.

Ice cream – Shortage of milk

By Ally • Apr 6th, 2009 • Category: Vet Trips

The vet trip today was a little different. Khun Grib joined me and we had just 2 dogs on board the Toyota Vios, 5 vaccinations in a cool box and clean seats & foot wells. Well, that was how it started!
It was good to share the journey to the vet with a colleague and wonderful [...]

Evan & Marina – Getting up close at the shelter

By Ally • Mar 17th, 2009 • Category: Volunteer Feedback

This morning, like most mornings this last week, Evan & Marina popped in to the shelter to get up close with the residents and give them a cuddle and have a natter.
These guys are just what the dogs need to bring a little cheer to their stay. A pair of ‘hands-on’ people that are very [...]

Puppy Shower Day – All day !

By Ally • Dec 20th, 2008 • Category: Rescue Stories

What an enormous task it is to shower 20 pups.
It’s not just the ‘you will do, come here, get wet, there you go’ routine that people might think.
These pups are about 6 weeks old. They have left their mother far too early. They have not been kept clean by the mothers constant care and right [...]

Time and Inclination

By Ally • Oct 27th, 2008 • Category: Vet Trips

3 hours of time, ability to drive 25 kilometres and a sense of humour. That’s all you need to do a vet run. Well almost.
It’s a bonus if you know how to approach a dog, talk to them, pick them up and understand their needs. But most of all you must have the inclination to [...]

Expat Blog – You don’t fit within our policy

By Ally • Oct 22nd, 2008 • Category: Volunteer Feedback

For the last 2 years I have been registered with a website that calls itself the “Expat Blog” and they list my earlier work with Care for Dogs in the category of Thailand, Volunteers etc.

Amazingly, today I receive an email from them to ask if I would like to update my profile…

Your blog content doesn’t fit expat blog’s policy. I regret we can’t accept it in our directory.

Village Workshop

By Soraya • Oct 12th, 2008 • Category: Education

Our first community workshop was designed to meet with the local people in our village, Baan Wiang Dong, educate them about basic medical care of dogs and how they could prevent common diseases.
It turned out to be a small gathering of about eight or nine…..cat owners. No problem – we love cats too.
A local [...]
