Our partner project with Nakornpayap International School “NIS Care For Dogs Temple Aid Program” is going in its fourth year and it’s really time to highlight that. So here it is and this time a little report not by a teacher but by one of those dedicated students who are so essential for keeping that [...]

Joint Action at the Temple

By • Jul 21st, 2010 • Category: Streets and Temples

Last Saturday together with the monks from the Don Dschai temple I organized sterilization for 3 dogs and one cat. The temple managed to get a car including driver and at 8.15 am five monks accompanied me to the shelter of Care for Dogs to get transportation boxes. We took the chance bringing back a [...]

Calling all animal lovers

By • Dec 19th, 2009 • Category: Wat Nong Pla Mon

We’re looking for volunteers!

If you are reading this notice it must be because of your concern for many of our 4-legged friends! Often times one has the need or want to volunteer in some way, but have limited time, located on the opposite side of Chiang Mai from the Care for Dog shelter, or simply unsure as to what you could do to help.

We are looking for interested, compassionate adults who would like to be part of a new Prem community outreach initiative called “Hand to Paw”. This project is designed to care for the dogs currently living at three temples located in the surrounding area around The Prem International School in Mae Rim.

Vertically challenged Spike

By • Nov 28th, 2009 • Category: Pet Network Chiang Mai

Spike is a small, hairy grey castrated male dog – about 12-14 inches tall – and probably 3-4 years old. He lives at Jetiyanusorn temple in San Puleui, a village close to the 121 road, fairly near Bor Sang. Volunteer Frances, who looks after dogs in that area, says Spike would appreciate a kind home [...]

One of our volunteers regularly visits a Temple to check up on the dogs  so when she saw this fluffy little bundle, she knew she had only just been dumped there.. so now Cleo has joined my other foster kittens looking for a new loving permanent home. She’s very friendly and cuddly and loves a [...]

Some Lucky Ones

By • Oct 30th, 2009 • Category: Already found a home

So many kittens have passed through my house lately, they come to me in many different ways,  bite wounds, four were dumped behind a guest house, one was found wandering on the Hang Dong Road, and 3 dumped in a Temple un weaned and left to the mercy of the local dogs. I’ve enjoyed nursing [...]

Here are six beautiful kittens looking for homes. They are about 7 to 8 weeks old, assorted colours, some boys some girls. They have been with me for about 4 weeks now since being dumped in a Temple, unweaned, and rescued from the dogs by compassionate tourists. They are very sociable, litter trained, dewormed and [...]

A Very Happy Ending!

By • May 30th, 2009 • Category: Already found a home

Andy (photographed with Jojo here ) and Veronika had previously visited Happy Gambol Dog Training and Boarding Facility near Mae Rim, where the proprietors Patrick and Nok had suggested that when visiting the Care for Dogs shelter, they should take time to watch out for the dog that adopted them, a dog that was just naturally drawn to them.. and Jo Jo certainly was.

Goodnight Sweetheart

By • May 20th, 2009 • Category: Rescue Stories

Frances Wood is a dedicated and very capable volunteer who focuses her attentions in her local community which is fundamental to tackling the often desperate situation of dogs living on the streets or in temples. This story by Frances is very sad. As I compile this post for publication, tears are streaming down my face [...]

Dumped Persians need homes

By • Apr 11th, 2009 • Category: Already found a home

This week we were alerted by a local temple that 4 Persian cats (3 males & 1 female) had been dumped there. Being suspicious of watery eyes and runny noses, as well as the fact that these beautiful cats had been abandoned, we took them to Dr Tarn for a short holiday and health assessment. [...]

WOW! Great Cats!

By • Feb 15th, 2009 • Category: Already found a home, Sterilisation

** Update Both re-homed together ** One of our volunteers Soraya, was contacted by the Abbot at her local Temple to say that 2 cats had just been dumped there. Being a caring and sensible man, he checked them out and discovered that they were both female, so his first thought was to call Soraya [...]

More Beer on holiday !

By • Jan 26th, 2009 • Category: Vet Trips

Last but by no means least, little Jo Jo made it onto the table and let the vet take a look at her plaster cast. She had been found wandering helplessly and in obvious pain at a temple in Chiang Mai and then rushed to a local vet for treatment. But that’s all we know. How she sustained the fractured leg, how long she had limped around with no help, we will never know.
