By • Nov 15th, 2009 • Category: Lead Stories

Those among you who have followed Care for Dogs progress in recent times will know how much we have wanted to establish our own veterinarian facilities at the shelter. In July through to September 2009 part of the shelter was transformed into 3 purpose built rooms, offering storage, an office & most importantly a surgery [...]

Just another day at the shelter

By • Sep 26th, 2009 • Category: Shelter

Wednesdays are always busy at the shelter and today was no exception. We have a schedule to keep to, as this is when we have a vet on site to help us treat all our TvT (Transmissible Venereal Tumor) cases and also check out any other cases of ill health that we need assistance in [...]

Soi 4 Poodles – part 1

By • Sep 4th, 2009 • Category: Streets and Temples

Sorting out various dog issues in my Moo Baan has become a regular activity for me over the past year providing numerous street projects very close to home for me. I’m happy that our village landlord now chooses to advise me of these situations rather than taking matters into her own hands by poisoning unwanted [...]

Malee – Dog of the Month – September

By • Aug 13th, 2009 • Category: Already found a home

My name is Malee. I am a very pretty 1 to 2 year old female, with dark soulful eyes and milky coffee coloured fur. I may be little but I have lots of personality and love playing with my friends here at the shelter though I’d love someone to take me home with them. I’m [...]

By • Aug 1st, 2009 • Category: Already found a home

Recently one of our regular volunteers, who spends endless hours ‘getting down & dirty’ at the shelter, grasped at a new opportunity of becoming a joint Shelter Coordinator, a new position with Care for Dogs, partnering with a Thai colleague. Leaving her old job in the city, she set about making plans for a home [...]

By • Jun 15th, 2009 • Category: Already found a home

Earlier this year, Care for Dogs agreed with the Abbot at Wat Doi Kam to progress the sterilisation of the many dogs at the temple and also the cats that were now living there. Indeed we went along & successfully blow darted many of the dogs that had previously eluded capture for sterilisation and the [...]

By • Jun 10th, 2009 • Category: Already found a home

**Update – All 7 have now found homes – Great news !**
CMU has an abundance of stray, homeless dogs already so we really need to find these little fellas a home as quick as we can before they grow too much bigger. It gets harder & harder to find adoptions the bigger they get.

7 University Pups, Mum & Grandma

By • Jun 10th, 2009 • Category: CMU

Today it was raining puppies! I got a call early morning about 6 puppies (turned out to be 7) at CMU (Chiang Mai University). I ventured over in the rains, that didn’t stop all day, to check the situation and take some photos. They were easy to find taking shelter under the Faculty of Economics [...]

These beautiful kittens are now 8 weeks old and are ready to be adopted into new homes. There are just 2 left and both are boys. And last week I was contacted by Kelly who had rescued a pretty little black and white female kitten. A neighbour had taken the rest of the litter and [...]

By • Mar 27th, 2009 • Category: Lead Stories

Karin, Soraya & I went on a road trip today, returning to Doi Saket and the awful caged dogs and the man who we are trying to encourage to change his ways and on the way we called into a government office, the local livestock department. Recently, a Thai Government officer working in Bangkok, visited [...]

Eyes Just Open…

By • Mar 24th, 2009 • Category: Available for Adoption

We recently received this email from Byron, a concerned cat lover in Chiang Mai and we wonder if someone out there will be looking for a very sociable kitten or two around the 1st of May. I’m living in town and recently had a litter of 3 kittens born in my outside kitchen (all males). [...]

Care for Dogs could not wish for higher praise than that expressed in the following post found at this site mandyandbryan.com On our last day in Chiang Mai I volunteered with Care for Dogs, and it was a pretty emotional day. I was really excited to play with dogs and it felt good to give [...]
