A View of Life in The Yard

By • Mar 7th, 2011 • Category: Shelter

Just how much work does take place at CfD on a daily basis? They say it takes a village to raise a child. Well it also takes a massive village to run a shelter. Our village of animal lovers just happens to have a fabulous community yard to sit in. Come see for yourself.

Speaking of Dogs

By • Nov 21st, 2010 • Category: News and Infos

One flyer, brought teens and a teacher to the shelter. But, there is more to the story. They are not the only ones who can gain knowledge as a result of that one simple paper. There is an important lesson to be learned here for the staff, volunteers and others already involved in the shelter’s work.

Neil at CARE FOR DOGS

By • Nov 6th, 2010 • Category: Volunteer Feedback

As we always like to give to you some of the experience our volunteers have while they are at Care for Dogs, here some feedback from Neil Murray: During other animal related volunteering work I was doing in Northern Thailand in February, 2010, I learnt of the work of the “Care For Dogs” rescue Centre [...]

We Are all Abuzz!

By • Oct 1st, 2010 • Category: Shelter

Care for Dogs is buzzing with good projects – literally! Power saws have been humming away as our great team of guys at the shelter have been building many wonderful new habitat enrichments (that is nerdy zoologist speak for “cool housing and awesome stuff to play on”) for the dogs. The older bamboo platforms did [...]

21 students accompanied by 2 staff from PTIS (previously known as Prem) came to the shelter today for a guided tour, a chance to walk some dogs and a surprise chance to get down & dirty with some really interesting characters. Hanna & Jum had done a splendid job of preparing for the visit with [...]

Dr. Pan’s start in our new vet facilities

By • Jul 2nd, 2010 • Category: Lead Stories

In the early days of Care for Dogs the little one-room house of our dog caretaker Khun Chaay was an “All in one” solution – living room, food preparation area, treatment room, and a small table in a dark area next to the boiling cooking pots was the “office”.
At that time we were not sure if we would be able to raise the funds for this investment, and we were discussing in our core team if we should take this risk. But we had the trust (or untamed optimism?) that with the help of friends and supporters we could make this milestone possible.

We are very happy that Dr. Pan has started last June working with us on a 3 days per week part time basis from Mondays to Wednesdays. Even before her official start she kindly offered to volunteer for us, brought in her vet friends, and they sterilized and operated the first dogs in our new operation room.

June 2010 – 4 years old now & growing every day, Care for Dogs is a well established foundation centre of care for the community. It’s often hard to distinguish faces of the residents & the visitors as they appear to all look so much at home. Here is a selection of characters at the [...]

Irene – Being a Factor

By • Jun 20th, 2010 • Category: Volunteer Feedback

This is what Irene has to tell us about her time at Car for Dogs: I really like Chiang Mai and try to visit the city on a regular basis. When there I always make a point of going along to the Care for Dogs Rescue Centre. Every visit I meet more dogs saved from [...]

There is just so much going on in & around the shelter right now, there seems to be a constant barrage of events & situations calling for a story & a camera. Here are just a few that have punctuated the past few weeks with adoptions, donations, rescues and unfortunately some very sad moments too. [...]

Animal Ambassador

By • Oct 31st, 2009 • Category: Feedback from supporters

Eva Hamann, who is a longtime supporter of Care for Dogs, visited the shelter in Hang Dong in September. With this visit, she and her husband could directly see what kind of work they have sponsored. She used this moment to present Karin personally another donation by a friend of hers, Ursual Albert from Germany. [...]
