Animal Ambassador

By Michael • Oct 31st, 2009 • Category: Feedback from supporters

Eva Hamann, who is a longtime supporter of Care for Dogs, visited the shelter in Hang Dong in September.
With this visit, she and her husband could directly see what kind of work they have sponsored. She used this moment to present Karin personally another donation by a friend of hers, Ursual Albert from Germany.
Besides her [...]

Looking For A Home – Urgently

By Gill • Oct 27th, 2009 • Category: Available for Adoption

These sweet little two girls Tamara
and Huppy Hu were adopted from the shelter over a year ago, but sadly due to a change of circumstances their owners can no longer keep them so they need a new home, preferably together. They are small short haired dogs, very friendly, affectionate and playful and in [...]

By Kathrin • May 10th, 2009 • Category: Already found a home

Hi guys and girls from the shelter,
It’s Oreo and Gold sending some hearty greetings from their holiday. As you know, we’ve been away for 4 weeks now and what can we say? We are enjoying our time with that girl speaking that mysterious tongue that also Karin speaks.

At first, we were a little skeptic [...]

It’s official, it’s great, it’s happened and it is a wonderful relief that Khun Grib has finally, after 5 months of waiting, arrived and started her work as a paid member of staff working as the Care for Dogs Shelter Co-ordinator.
Answering a very detailed job specification, then ferociously screened by all the core team (& [...]

Before….

By Gill • Apr 2nd, 2009 • Category: Already found a home

**Update Already found a home – No surprises there !**
This story just shows what the right action and a little bit of time can achieve.

This is Alfie, a gorgeous little guy who was found dumped on the side of the road.

Maybe it was because he had hardly a hair left on him, we will never know. But he was picked up and bought to the shelter where he was diagnosed with mange and was promptly given a special bath and put onto daily medication.

Adoption is free but Nina was STOLEN

By Ally • Mar 14th, 2009 • Category: Lost Dog

Nina is a cute little girl who came to Care for Dogs as a dumped dog quite a while ago and immediately became the sweetheart of one of the guys working at the shelter.
Khun Nod adopted her and she travelled everywhere with him, on the bike, in the car and lived as a companion to [...]

Transmissible Venereal Tumor

By Ally • Mar 5th, 2009 • Category: TvT

The purpose of this article is to raise readers awareness of some of the work that Care for Dogs is involved in, apart from Sterilisation, Adoption and caring for sick or wounded dogs at the shelter in Hang Dong, Chiang Mai Thailand.
Dogs that suffer with this awful condition pass it on to one another very easily. Either via intercourse or contact with the blood, a dog can easily contract it and pass it on to all those that are in their vicinity.

It’s Play Time

By Ally • Dec 29th, 2008 • Category: Vet Trips

Well giving every Monday Vet Run the same title is a little bit of a bore, so this week the title reflects a special gift to the dogs being constructed by the lads at the shelter.

After they had done their feeding, cleaning & medical rounds, they set about their construction work, making a climbing [...]

Time and Inclination

By Ally • Oct 27th, 2008 • Category: Vet Trips

3 hours of time, ability to drive 25 kilometres and a sense of humour. That’s all you need to do a vet run. Well almost.
It’s a bonus if you know how to approach a dog, talk to them, pick them up and understand their needs. But most of all you must have the inclination to [...]

Street project (part 3) – Princess

By Teresa • Sep 25th, 2008 • Category: Assadathon Rd., Sterilisation

Follow up from Street Project – (part 2)
The update this morning (24/9/08) from Sarah regarding Princess was dim. During her double surgery (c-section & sterilisation) 2 puppies were found still inside her but unfortunately already dead. Princess is suffering from a serious internal infection that was in her uterus and caused her to have an abortion. This [...]

The little fluffy dog on the highway

By Karin • Sep 7th, 2008 • Category: Rescue Stories

The little fluffy dog stood in the middle of the highway that leads from Mae Joe to Chiang Mai. While driving past, I noted her with one eye, and suddenly had a strange feeling – something was wrong. You see a lot dogs along the highways, in bustling streets, even sleeping on the road, and [...]

Mandy – Puppy of the Month

By Ally • Aug 21st, 2008 • Category: Already found a home

I’m a brown-white 5 month old puppy named Mandy.
I’m pure puppy cuteness, bounding and bouncing around while following those I love. I’m energetic, bold, and very playful towards other dogs and people. I would definitely be a great pet for people with children and a great buddy for another dog.
My three siblings, my dad and [...]
