Cats in the Wat

By • Mar 5th, 2011 • Category: Pet Network Chiang Mai

Another fine example what can be done when organisations and individuals work together on behalf of animals in need, this time triggered by our NIS partner project with help of Gill. Read the story by Anandita Thakkar Shingala (nickname: Abia): Yes indeed, in our NIS Care for Dogs program, we care for cats too (and [...]

A thousand words

By • Mar 2nd, 2011 • Category: Photos and Videos

Care for Dogs rescued this guy from a dusty horror 2 years ago. At that time he was scared & it was hard to get near him. With only 3 legs, he frantically hopped the circumference of any area he was in, a pitiful sight. You can see a little more about that here … Zorro is [...]

Young girl in ‘hit & run’ misery

By • Dec 4th, 2010 • Category: Rescue Stories

A couple of weeks ago I visited one of the Dog Walk Agency clients home in Ban Wang Taan, Chiang Mai, to do the weekly duty of paying the walkers their money. The housekeeper Kh Mai, told me about a tragic event that happened that morning involving a young girl being run down in the [...]

Sneak Preview – NAP Fair Newbies!

By • Dec 3rd, 2010 • Category: News and Infos

Last week over 20 young dogs arrived at the shelter and most are being prepared for the NAP Fair. Many of the smaller puppies are out of an abandoned house, some are young temple dogs, but all are woefully socialized. Here in photos is a sneak preview of some of the new dogs that we hope to move into forever homes this week.

The Freedom 46

By • Nov 25th, 2010 • Category: Lead Stories

On Sunday May 2nd of this year (2010) the main headline on the Care for Dogs’ (CFD) website read: “Imprisoned, Sick, Depressed”. On Tuesday November 23rd a new era was ushered in for 46 caged dogs in Mae Rim, Thailand. Now begins their era of: “Freedom, Health, Happiness!” Khun Nod, Karin, Amandine, and I set out early that sunny morning in a caravan that was comprised of more dogs than people. Just as Joy also arrived at the property cage doors began to swing open.

By • Nov 6th, 2010 • Category: Volunteer Feedback

As we always like to give to you some of the experience our volunteers have while they are at Care for Dogs, here some feedback from Neil Murray: During other animal related volunteering work I was doing in Northern Thailand in February, 2010, I learnt of the work of the “Care For Dogs” rescue Centre [...]

Noi Nna’s Follow up Rescue

By • Feb 12th, 2010 • Category: Adoption Follow Ups

I want to find someone who can do the adoption follow up visits once a week, since they are so crucial, as you might understand now.

So please, anybody who is interested in helping the shelter team, whose team members are very, very busy with lots of equally important work regarding the well being of the dogs, please don’t hesitate to contact them and offer your help for 3-4 hours (one evening) per week. In doing the adoption follow up visits, you would fulfill a very important part in the care for dogs’ team work for the dogs!

Mae Rim Pet Shop Rescue

By • Dec 5th, 2009 • Category: Mae Rim Pet Shop

We were recently made aware by one of our volunteers of a very difficult scenario evolving in Mae Rim. In March 2007 Care for Dogs visited a small plot of land in Mae Rim where a guy had relocated 30 dogs from his previous home in Phuket. He was setting up a home for the [...]

Look @ this Success

By • Oct 18th, 2009 • Category: Events, Lead Stories

If you were there, then you will know how many people came, participated, contributed & enjoyed the entertainment, the company, the delights of the artwork, the food & drink and of course the spectacle of dogs in an art gallery.

Ana sang her heart out & Kens film which he spent many hours capturing at the shelter looked good on the wall. You can view it here … but please make sure you have sound, otherwise it won’t do Ken’s fabulous work justice.

The presentation made by Karin was memorable, wrenching heart strings when explaining the large “Rescue” canvas and outlining some of the work we are involved with.

Just another day at the shelter

By • Sep 26th, 2009 • Category: Shelter

Wednesdays are always busy at the shelter and today was no exception. We have a schedule to keep to, as this is when we have a vet on site to help us treat all our TvT (Transmissible Venereal Tumor) cases and also check out any other cases of ill health that we need assistance in [...]

By • Jun 10th, 2009 • Category: CMU

Today it was raining puppies! I got a call early morning about 6 puppies (turned out to be 7) at CMU (Chiang Mai University). I ventured over in the rains, that didn’t stop all day, to check the situation and take some photos. They were easy to find taking shelter under the Faculty of Economics [...]

A Very Happy Ending!

By • May 30th, 2009 • Category: Already found a home

Andy (photographed with Jojo here ) and Veronika had previously visited Happy Gambol Dog Training and Boarding Facility near Mae Rim, where the proprietors Patrick and Nok had suggested that when visiting the Care for Dogs shelter, they should take time to watch out for the dog that adopted them, a dog that was just naturally drawn to them.. and Jo Jo certainly was.

Eyes just open.. Update – And there are more !

By • May 4th, 2009 • Category: Available for Adoption

These beautiful kittens are now 8 weeks old and are ready to be adopted into new homes. There are just 2 left and both are boys. And last week I was contacted by Kelly who had rescued a pretty little black and white female kitten. A neighbour had taken the rest of the litter and [...]

By • Mar 27th, 2009 • Category: Lead Stories

Karin, Soraya & I went on a road trip today, returning to Doi Saket and the awful caged dogs and the man who we are trying to encourage to change his ways and on the way we called into a government office, the local livestock department. Recently, a Thai Government officer working in Bangkok, visited [...]
