One of our volunteers regularly visits a Temple to check up on the dogs  so when she saw this fluffy little bundle, she knew she had only just been dumped there.. so now Cleo has joined my other foster kittens looking for a new loving permanent home. She’s very friendly and cuddly and loves a [...]

Gill – Starts her ‘Foster Blog’

By • Nov 4th, 2009 • Category: Fostering News

I’ve decided to share some of my fostering experiences in the hope that someone else may be encouraged to take in a dog or two, or cats and kittens and give the individual love and care that some of them need for recovery or re homing. So this is a quick introduction just so you [...]

Freedom makes Headlines Again!

By • Sep 13th, 2009 • Category: Already found a home

They are both very gentle natured, and despite the terrible circumstances we found them in, I believe that they once had very kind and caring owners because they love being with people, all people, and they take new situations in their stride. They were a real hit with local children at our Open Day in June. They walk well on the leash, and obey basic commands in English & Thai. They are keen to please and learn fast.
If you or anyone you know would like to consider adopting these 2 gentle creatures, please contact Ally on 0847 52 52 55 to arrange a visit to the shelter or send us an email

Dumped Persians need homes

By • Apr 11th, 2009 • Category: Already found a home

This week we were alerted by a local temple that 4 Persian cats (3 males & 1 female) had been dumped there. Being suspicious of watery eyes and runny noses, as well as the fact that these beautiful cats had been abandoned, we took them to Dr Tarn for a short holiday and health assessment. [...]

San Sai misery for Alsatian & Golden Retriever

By • Apr 11th, 2009 • Category: Lead Stories

The guy who warned us about the vicious dogs led the Alsatian into a cage whilst we looked at the other dog. Why he did this, we shall never know but he said they had been this way for the last couple of years and we assumed he knew them better than we did.

We backed the car into the garden, scrunching the cleaned carcase remnants that people had previously thrown over the gate to feed these creatures, now bare of meat and reminiscent of the poor guys that we were now leading into the car.
The Golden Retriever had so little energy, we had to carry him into the car. He didn’t growl, he didn’t resist and where he was put, he stayed. The Alsatian walked quietly but positively into the car without any fuss. Their bodies were very thin, bones sticking out and skin drawn tight in some places and hanging saggy in others. Their eye lids drooping and eyes just staring, they looked exhausted and like characters from documentaries where prisoners have been released after long term captivity. I am not exaggerating, I am not sensationalising, this happened, this is real life.

By • Apr 2nd, 2009 • Category: Feedback from supporters

In February, Silke & Valentin visited our shelter in Hang Dong. They were on a trip around the world from Switzerland and while in Chiang Mai, they decided to take a look at Care for Dogs. It is obvious that despite it being a relative short stay of just one day, the experience left an [...]

Nudee looks better already – He is eating!

By • Nov 22nd, 2008 • Category: Rama IX Park

As promised (to Nudee) I paid another visit to his food servant today, Kh Toy and demonstrated the very difficult art of delivering food in a bowl, mixed up with some parasite killing medicine called Ivomec. The only minor hiccup (for me, not Nudee) was the plastic doggy eating bowl was no where to be [...]
