Anne – From Berlin to Chiang Mai

By Anne • Feb 12th, 2010 • Category: Volunteer Feedback

I came to Chiang Mai in December 2009 and it was my first time in Thailand. I was amazed to see so many street dogs. And because I love dogs very much and had never seen this many street dogs before in my life, I was really overwhelmed and I didn’t really know how to [...]

Airport Plaza – Adoption Fair

By Ally • Jan 9th, 2010 • Category: Events, Lead Stories

New Year in Chiang Mai is a busy time and we could not miss the opportunity of meeting the thousands of shoppers at the city’s busiest shopping mall – Central Airport Plaza.

Many thanks go to the management of the complex for allowing us to hold our 3rd Adoption Fair at the centre and this time instead of being within the busy confines of walkways full of happy shoppers, we were granted permission to set up our stall on the balcony area at one of the main entrances.

But the day was made that much more a success by the happy adoptions of 7 puppies. Ally failed to capture the 7th pup Pauly & his new family but as can be seen from the images above, it was happy smiley faces all round!

By Ally • Dec 17th, 2009 • Category: TvT

We see so may dogs suffering with this condition and feel we need to discuss it more and let people know how important it is to treat.
For nearly 3 years now, Care for Dogs has routinely treated approximately 10 dogs on a weekly basis for Transmissible Venereal Tumor (TvT).
Dogs don’t catch this at the shelter. [...]

Look @ this Success

By Ally • Oct 18th, 2009 • Category: Events, Lead Stories

If you were there, then you will know how many people came, participated, contributed & enjoyed the entertainment, the company, the delights of the artwork, the food & drink and of course the spectacle of dogs in an art gallery.

Ana sang her heart out & Kens film which he spent many hours capturing at the shelter looked good on the wall. You can view it here … but please make sure you have sound, otherwise it won’t do Ken’s fabulous work justice.

The presentation made by Karin was memorable, wrenching heart strings when explaining the large “Rescue” canvas and outlining some of the work we are involved with.

Sunday Market Success

By Teresa • Aug 27th, 2009 • Category: Volunteer Feedback

Last Sunday proved that our new booth is a great success with an EXCELLENT result in sales, donations and interest from the public. This will increase adoptions and we’ve already got some new volunteers. Not to mention the positive outcome these extra funds will have in helping the many dogs and cats in Chiang Mai and help fund our many new projects in the planning. We’re always looking for Thai or English speaking volunteers. If you are interested in joining our team at the Sunday Walking Street Market Booth then please contact me at teresa@carefordogs.org

Tomorrow’s another day – Ana Gracey – Introduces dogs for adoption

By Ally • May 2nd, 2009 • Category: Available for Adoption

I now have over 100 friends of the canine variety. I never expected to find such a deep and constant friendship so soon after coming to Chiang Mai by myself.  I don’t yet know all their names, but each and every one  has their own lovable personality with accompanying quirks and proclivities.  But more than [...]

Transmissible Venereal Tumor

By Ally • Mar 5th, 2009 • Category: TvT

The purpose of this article is to raise readers awareness of some of the work that Care for Dogs is involved in, apart from Sterilisation, Adoption and caring for sick or wounded dogs at the shelter in Hang Dong, Chiang Mai Thailand.
Dogs that suffer with this awful condition pass it on to one another very easily. Either via intercourse or contact with the blood, a dog can easily contract it and pass it on to all those that are in their vicinity.

Brrrrr it’s cold

By Ally • Jan 12th, 2009 • Category: Available for Adoption

The 20 youngsters are still huddled much of the time, that’s when they are not eating, playing & poo’ing – Oh don’t start me on that subject!

As you can see they are growing fast and we hope in a couple of weeks time to start warming up Chiang Mai hearts, by holding an Adoption Fair, with a focus on getting as many of these fluffy bundles a new home and a new start to their lives.
Would you like 1? If you take 1… you could get 2 or 3 as a bargain offer.

Nudee looks better already – He is eating!

By Ally • Nov 22nd, 2008 • Category: Rama IX Park

As promised (to Nudee) I paid another visit to his food servant today, Kh Toy and demonstrated the very difficult art of delivering food in a bowl, mixed up with some parasite killing medicine called Ivomec.
The only minor hiccup (for me, not Nudee) was the plastic doggy eating bowl was no where to be seen [...]

Paws for Cocktails – Update

By Ally • Nov 22nd, 2008 • Category: Lead Stories

This event is very likely to be a success, even before it actually happens!

Soraya (the co-ordinator for this event) has been hard at work making all the right contacts and definitely in the right area and circles that this Cocktail party for the Paws is already looking like a recurring event and with so much support for this first one, who knows where the organising team (more about these dynamic folks later) will take this excellent initiative.

Maybe a party on the top floor of a condominium block??

Zoe in Yellow Lounge Bar & Bistro Wednesday 26th November 2008 @7pm is an attractive place to be, as there will not only be quite a lot of very interesting people (in addition to the Care for Dogs extremely interesting washed & scrubbed up set!) just ready to have a natter, share a quip, nod their heads, fondly greet and indulge in trivia and personal experience amidst the back drop of social interaction because of dogs and cats in Chiang Mai!

If the prospect of revelling in human company doesn’t make you salivate, then maybe the following (incomplete) list of prizes kindly donated by the named generous folks will encourage you to join the celebration spirit of the first Paws for Cocktails event.

Dress code is totally informal (despite the doggy in the Dj on the flyer) – just come as you are!
Thank you so much and see you soon at Zoe in Yellow lounge!
