Susy Utzinger Quarantine Unit in Action

Puppies from a place we visited last week, which to most people would be called a rubbish dump but to the folks who live there, it’s their home, had so many dogs and so many puppies.

Puppies in quarantine Clean and safe with a future

We came away with 16, we think from 3 litters and there were still 7 more left from another litter, being nursed by their mother.

Desperate scenes Home to people, sick dogs and helpless pups

It was quite a disturbing sight and we were all dumb struck after the exploration of what at some time must have been an industrial building but has now just turned into a recycling dump and a home for 5 people and approximately 50 dogs.

Sadly the conditions were a breeding ground for disease and hardly conducive to healthy minds and bodies, which was evident in both humans and dogs.

The favourite puppy we were not allowed to rescue

Thankfully we have a wonderful quarantine facility at the Care for Dogs shelter, which we are proud to acknowledge was donated through the kindness of the Susy Utzinger Foundation and here, the 15 living (1 died shortly after rescue) waggly tailed, bright eyed and excitable little pups are able to have guaranteed food, appropriate treatments for worms, ticks and fleas, vaccinations as well as a good shower, whilst ensuring we do not compromise the health of the current residents at the shelter.

Thank you Susy Utzinger Foundation
Thank you Susy Utzinger Foundation once again, your generosity brings extended life and hope to so many.
