Care for Dogs ‘Sunday Walking Street Market Booth’ – 23/8/09

Our first real week in our proper location. No rain and loads of people. A bit stressful getting started with the market officials instructing us every 5 minutes what we could and could not do with our booth. This along with it being our first set up completely threw out our carefully planned set up routine. Things can only get better from here now though as we’ve fine tuned it and are more organised and ready for this coming week.

Emma and I gave it a go in the rain the week before (16/8/09) which was our previous planned start date. All other volunteers had gone home due to the heavy rain as we made a decision to cancel. Emma, our shelter co-ordinator, turned up to say hello and as the rains had eased to light showers we decided to try it out. The soap flower carving man next to us had gone home so we set up right next to my t-shirt booth which I have to say was very convenient indeed. We still managed to do well even with the rain and hardly any shoppers plus we were not in our proper location or properly set up. We can safely say that this was a preview of what was to come. Thanks for your help Emma, our motivation and determination paid off!!

Last Sunday proved that our new booth is a great success with an EXCELLENT result in sales, donations and interest from the public. This will increase adoptions and we’ve already got some new volunteers. Not to mention the positive outcome these extra funds will have in helping the many dogs and cats in Chiang Mai and help fund our many new projects in the planning.

The volunteers rostered on last Sunday on all shifts did a fantastic job. We say a big THANK YOU to you all for generously giving your time. We welcome all new volunteers rostered on for the future and look forward to continued success and progress.
