Splish Splash – Water Pleasures
As every dog lover know each and every dog is a special character and they differ in various aspects of life. One aspect is their behaviour around water.
Some seem to think water just makes sense in a water bowl a drink is okay but getting a shower “Brrr” it’s torture – a river, a lake dangerous places you cannot walk on smell like nothing, not interesting at all let’s go the other way.
But there are other doggies who know better, what pleasure water can bring. Nothing better than a shower after a walk on a hot day in dry season. Well, except one thing a place to swim and splash around, so much fun and excitement, finding that would make my day.
While volunteering at the shelter I was lucky to discover a little pond approachable for our doggies and in walking distance to the shelter.
Quickly Irene and me found out about the who’s who in our walking crew.
Like beautiful Sammy who obviously felt this dirty pond would only ruin his fine fur, better keep a little distance.
But there were the others like Little Cow, Noi Nna and especially Thelma.
I’ll always remember Thelma otherwise a Thai Ridgeback lady full of dignity and quite impressive, but around this little lake she became a playful teenager. We only have to come near the lake she started pulling, by our arrival jumping into the water, showing how much fun she had. I don’t know who enjoyed more pleasures she playing in the lake or me watching her.
If I had done nothing than finding this place, at least for them it was worth my stay in Chiang Mai.
How much I wish she and the others find a new home, where a new owner would find out what wonderful animals they are. Dogs will always be my favourite animals, tell me which other one can express so much joy and have a smile that just brightens your day.
Yes, at our shelter you might see doggies with even the saddest background, but spend a little time with them and you’ll see what a potential source of fun and joy is in
every one of them.
Just come an have a look whether you like joining the volunteers having a walk with the dogs or even better think about adopting one, you’re welcome!

Michael " Being part of the team I think, was so much more effective. If alone, I would only have given a street dog some food for few days, not knowing what else to do in a strange town when seeing a sick dog. Joining with the other volunteers at CfD, I was part of a steady approach. You give dogs some hope for a better life and don't have to disappoint them when they might wait on you, when your plane already took off. Here is a team and it's just another friendly face, the next (holiday) volunteer will take up your work. [More about Michael]"
