Simba - Can you sponsor his re-education training at LuckyDogs?

PhotobucketSimba is a beautiful male Bankaew dog, approx. 1 – 2 years old.

He has lived a miserable life: for more than a year he was kept in a cage 24 hours a day - for a young and energetic dog this must have been an absolutely depressing situation!

Some of the neighbours made matters worse, whenever Simba started barking, they would poke sticks through the wire of the cage and hit him.

When people came near to the cage, he just went berserk!

This story first came to our attention in July 2007. It was clear at that time the dog was being mistreated and to be left in this cage and treated this way, appalled us but with local laws being so inadequate, there was little we could do.

This last week, although reluctant at first, the owner family finally agreed to release Simba to Care for Dogs.

Thanks  to increased pressure from other helpful and dog loving neighbours, Simba’s family admitted that the life he was leading, confined to a cage, was just too pitiful.

PhotobucketThe rescue needed careful consideration as there had not been evidence of handling and we were totally unaware of how he would react, once outside of the cage. Would he accept help? Would he just go crazy and be unmanageable? We needed to find out.

Once released from his tiny prison cell, we were able to see a glimpse of the true Simba.

Behind all his anger and fear we saw a beautiful soul hidden.

After much searching of available options, we established a plan with Nienke Parma of LuckyDogs Boarding and Training Center giving Simba the chance to be re-socialized and benefit from a residential course at Lucky Dogs.

Although we embarked on this course of action knowing the costs, it will be a drain on resources but we are hopeful that by making our readers aware of this situation, the cost might be shared by sponsorship and his re-training be paid for by a generous sponsor.

Training and boarding will cost 4.950 Baht per month.

He is already with Nienke and the good news is, that he’s responding quite well to the training.

If you would you be willing to sponsor Simbas training – or even be interested in giving Simba a new home once his training is finished, please get in touch as soon as possible.

  1. Great news from Nienke - It seems that Simba is reacting to the training quite well, he is literally taking treats out of her hand! Well done Nienke.
