Silke & Valentin trip around the world- stop at CfD

In February, Silke & Valentin visited our shelter in Hang Dong. They were on a trip around the world from Switzerland and while in Chiang Mai, they decided to take a look at Care for Dogs. It is obvious that despite it being a relative short stay of just one day, the experience left an impression.

They publish a blog on the internet sharing their fresh experiences with interested readers and here we show you what they wrote in their post about the day with Care for Dogs:

… Today we accompanied Maggie on her way to a street dog rescue station and enjoyed the day with all those dogs. We met little puppies, healthy dogs, some sick dogs and many happy and playful dogs, which enjoyed spending a day with us as much as we enjoyed spending time with them.

We cuddled, played and cuddled them again. These dogs in the shelter are living a real good life – they have big enclosures with a lot of space, and various things to play with, to take a rest and even to hide a little.

But there are some dogs in poor condition… first of all the blind ones (although they find their way quite well and are real cuddly) and some in a kind of hospital area – even in much worse condition. Most of them after surgery, but some of them on strong medication and treatment against cancer or other serious diseases. Not so nice to look at, but they too real enjoyed our human approach.

We just have to say, every dog in the shelter goes fine and can be happy to have found this place. Medical Care is very good, the big enclosure is beautiful and the dogs can live together in packs just being a dog.

Although it’s sad too – at the end of the day we left with a good feeling. The dogs get help and live a life as free, pain free and simply happy as possible.

best wishes

Silke & Valentin

Thanks Silke & Valentin for your visit and your kind donation. Everyone at Care for Dogs and especially our animal fosterlings, are happy about every visitor showing support and giving the doggies some moments of love.

Although we try our very best for our residents and we very much appreciated that you recognized that, living in the shelter can and will always be second best to the dogs, even the happy looking ones just want to be with their family.

So when reading this, please take a moment to think about something : Can you bring a dog out of the second best to the very best by giving one (or more ) of them a place within your family? If the answer is yes, please contact us.

" Being part of the team I think, was so much more effective. If alone, I would only have given a street dog some food for few days, not knowing what else to do in a strange town when seeing a sick dog. Joining with the other volunteers at CfD, I was part of a steady approach. You give dogs some hope for a better life and don't have to disappoint them when they might wait on you, when your plane already took off. Here is a team and it's just another friendly face, the next (holiday) volunteer will take up your work. [More about Michael]"
