Shanika – a Whole New Life

At Care for Dogs we don’t forget about our former residents and as times goes by and if we’re lucky the last memory won’t be a sad one.

Here in the last image of the gallery you can see Shanika on arrival at our shelter almost a year ago. She had been owned by a dentist who had let her go downhill and lost interest – maybe she had once been bought as a status symbol. Neighbours had alerted us and brought her in. Shanika had hair loss, mange, wounds, and was depressed.

Our team nursed Shanika back to good physical and emotional health. A couple of months later she found a loving home with a family who had adopted another dog “Law” from us already.

Today Cherry and Bee visited Shanika and Law. The pictures speak their own language.

Our work is sometimes demanding, stressful and emotional burdening. There is no better motivation and encouragement to continue the work we do than cases such as Shanika’s.

" It makes me deeply sad to see when dogs that have been cared for, get poisoned, or finding dogs, that were killed to be eaten, or holding dumped sick puppies that die in our arms.[More]"
