Rescued from an Island – Already Found A Home
This beautiful young cat, Willow was found on an Island, one of the busiest in Chiang Mai in fact.. the traffic island outside Airport Plaza, directly under the fly over!
Her plaintive cries were heard by Khun Bla, a tuk tuk driver who picked her up and rushed her to the vet clinic.
It’s impossible to know how these wounds were caused, maybe she was caught by a strimmer as she has horrible slice wounds across her back and her tail was hanging limply.
Khun Bla named her Lucky as she really was lucky to have been found that day, but as I already have a Lucky at home, I renamed her Willow.
After changing the wound dressings daily for over a week and seeing little improvement, I took her to the shelter to be seen by Liz and Caroline, visiting vets from WVS.
Willow had to be sedated as the wound was so raw, but they applied their special green mud and after just 3 days there was a great improvement, after another application of the green mud there was an even bigger improvement, but the tail still hung limply and it was thought she may have to have it amputated.
I took over the dressings after the vets left and 2 weeks later the wound is almost completely healed.
Her tail still looks a bit of a mess, but she now twitches it right down to the very tip, so it’s looking really hopeful that she will be able to keep it.
She’s a really special little cat with a very sweet nature who purrs her way through everything and is always looking for a lap to curl up on.
Then Willows luck got even better, Marisa and Gernot came to my house to look at kittens I had for adoption and Willow made herself comfy on the sofa between them, purring loudly, she wasn’t going to be left out, she just loves being around people.
They couldn’t resist her and decided that she was so adorable and that she was the one for them. They will continue with the wound dressings for another week or two, then hopefully she will be perfectly recovered from her ordeal..
So she really is a very ‘Lucky’ little cat after all!

Gill " I feel really fortunate that I am able to spend my days doing something so fulfilling and worthwhile. I enjoy spending my time just loving and cuddling our dogs and taking time to restore their confidence in humans. Some have been through untold traumas or are family pets that have just been abandoned on the streets or in Temples so its wonderful to see them settle into the dog family groups here and get a feeling of security again.
