Rachel & Kate - Caring Volunteers
Just back from a walk with some ever willing dogs that delight in walking on leads along the roads and in an orchard in the vicinity of the Care for Dogs shelter, Rachel and Kate took a closer look at this poor old boy who was rescued by one of our volunteers, Fred, who saw him struggling to exist near to Chiang Mai University.
Suffering with advanced stages of mange, also being anemic and extremely weak, so much so it appears at times he cannot walk another step, he is being treated to some regular food and pepped up with vitamins and more importantly love and cuddles.
These 2 girls, along with other volunteers at the shelter right now, like Sarah, Lisa and Gill, are giving just that. Love and cuddles to as many dogs as they can. It is not just because they enjoy it, not because like a child likes a teddy to cuddle for warmth and affection. It is because these dogs show such warmth and affection to humans if they are allowed to. If they have the opportunity to open up, they show their emotions and their feelings.
These volunteers give the dogs a chance to express their emotions and be seen in a more realistic way by any visitor to the shelter who might be interested in adopting a dog, rather than there being caged and confined animals excited by humans invading their space.
