Nova & Nina find themselves in paradise
Cats who are born in temples rarely make it to the outside world, often merely joining the numbers and becoming part of the temple life. That is if they get food, are not eaten by the starving dogs and find their health deteriorates and live but a short life.
But for Nova (stripey male) & Nina (reddish female) life appears to be a bed of roses and they have found themselves in a paradise.
This is what Karen & Lowey told us about their happy youngsters and their photos say it all !!:
We got them when they were just 8 weeks old and could fit into the palm of my hand! Now they are long, sleek and gorgeous! They sleep curled up together every night on our bed and take up all the space! They are proper Northern Thai cats and try to steal sticky rice from Lowey’s plate all the time. They get a treat of plaatuu every evening too. Nova chases geckos and Nina tries to catch dragonflies in the garden! They also drink the water from our fishponds!!!
Thanks to the kindness of Lowey & Karen, these 2 lucky kittens were given a home, from Wat Gaset Mai where the Nuns found themselves with yet more kittens from non sterilised female cats. Care for Dogs (or should that start to read “Care for Cats” ?) have now sterilised the mother cat at the temple but if anyone would like a kitten or an adult cat, we can always find some in need of loving homes at the various temples around Chiang Mai.
Lowey & Karen have taken their passion for our domestic companions a step further, they will be volunteering with Care for Dogs on a regular basis. Wow ! That’s just marvellous.
