Licorice’s positive turn-around!

LicoriceAfter lots of reassurance from Sarah, Karin, and Ally (as well as others!) who thought that it was still more likely for Licorice to be suffering from e-canis (the SNAP tests can be fallible and give a false negative) than from cancer (both would affect platelet and red blood cell count).

I started Licorice on doxycycline to treat for e-canis and continued her ivermectin. Sweetly and trustingly, Licorice kept wagging her tail throughout the treatments (although the doxy occasionally made her nauseous) and almost surprisingly, her hair’s grown back long and shiny with little to no obvious signs of mange ;)

I plan on continuing the treatment for at least three more weeks to make sure everything is clear and then retest her blood work to gauge whether or not her platelets are back up! Crossing my fingers….
