Hope & Freedom living happy at the School for Life

A couple of months ago, I was honored to visit School for Life to meet one of the staff, a house mother & teacher, Kh Tom.

What a wonderful occasion that was, to catch up with Hope & Freedom in their new home after Kh Tom had courageously adopted the pair from the Care for Dogs shelter.

This week, Kh Tom asked me if I would visit her again & discuss the health of Hope & Freedom as well as taking a look at the other dogs & cats at the school.

When I arrived, I didn’t exactly arrive quietly, I was on my motorbike & clomped in with my big boots on. Not a sound from the building, just the site of a couple of heads, busy preparing food for lunch.

I walked into the kitchen & found both dogs asleep on the steps alongside Kh Tom. This was such a peaceful and serene moment, these dogs are relaxed & free from stress, totally loved and cared for, given their own space and plenty of exercise and socialisation with all the children & staff at the school.

Freedoms coat has returned to good health all over his body but that didn’t stop me giving him a shower with the shampoo I took along for him. Hope wasn’t interested in a shower, he just tagged along for the after shower drying session in their little house where Kh Tom has mattresses & cuddly toys galore for these 2 guys.

As for the other dogs at the school, they don’t bother these 2 old timers and Hope & Freedom don’t get excited by any 4 legged visitors either. Kh Tom showed me some puppies and some older dogs and we discussed how Care for Dogs will assist School for Life to get as many of these sterilised as possible.

I came away with tears in my eyes.

Here are a few photos of the children & dogs taken by Kh Tom & friends and a couple by me during my visit.
Thank you Kh Tom for being a wonderful, kind hearted and all round warm and friendly human being.

" Volunteering with Care for Dogs makes me very happy and I feel that major forces have been at work for many years, angling for me to be here, to do this and make a difference to the dogs around Chiang Mai.[More]"

  1. Tears in my eyes, too, when I read this story and see the many happy photos of Hope + Freedom! What a difference to the day we had found them in an abandoned house in a malnurished and terrible state. These stories show that it’s worth to continue.

  2. What a happy ending or rather happy new beginning!!! Lucky dogs and lucky humans….

  3. I’m so happy for them. Please keep up the good work you gals & guys.
