Hope and Freedom find Peace

hope2

Hope and Freedom arrived at my home about 10 days ago for fostering.

I had no idea what they would be like after 2 years of neglect, and I was a bit wary about taking on two big dog’s that were, maybe, unpredictable.

What a surprise I got. These two are absolutely wonderful.

They are gentle and friendly and happily greet everyone who visits and they are really enjoying all of the attention they get every day now.

Hope was so underweight when he first arrived that he used to find it difficult to even stand up but he’s staring to gain weight and he get’s up to greet me now, tail wagging.

freedom1Freedom had faired better so he is just getting fitter every day too. They must have been well cared for and trained at some point because both are used to commands and Freedom will ‘sit’ when told and wait for his food to be put down, and he’s just strong enough now to fetch the ball, which he loves to do and he gives it up when asked. Hope is still too weak for all of this but it won’t be long I’m sure, before he’s joining in.

Both still have wounds that need dressing every day and again, they both lie patiently while I clean and dress them, no muzzle needed, they must know that they are being cared for at last, and if you have seen Hopes wound’s you can imagine that this is painful for him, but I think this just shows his basic nature, gentle and calm.

And bath time, well, that was a breeze too.. I left it a few days so that they would feel comfortable with me because it was clear from the start that a hose pipe had been used ‘in anger’ against them, but Freedom was pretty smelly even though I had washed his face and given him a bit of a bed bath.

But once again, I was surprised, he stood perfectly still while I hosed him down and shampooed him, he was loving it! And when I looked round, Hope was standing waiting for his turn too!

These are two very well adjusted and laid back dogs. They are also very relaxed and happy with the other foster dogs I have here.

And of course they are both beautiful.

They are also inseparable so when Hope goes to the vets for a check up, Freedom has to come along for the ride!

We are still looking for a permanent home for these guys, together of course, and maybe now that we know more about their personalities you might want to come along and meet them and see if they are the dogs for you.

Please contact me direct on 0871 891623 or email.

  1. I visited these 2 lovely guys (& of course Gilly) a couple of days ago. They really are special and you can’t help feeling drawn to them. Freedom is so outgoing, very welcoming & when Hope looks at you it just makes you melt. Ideal house pets with a lot of love to give even after their hardship. Unlike us humans who at times hold on to resentment for years!!
