Hi guys and girls from the shelter,

It’s Oreo and Gold sending some hearty greetings from their holiday. As you know, we’ve been away for 4 weeks now and what can we say? We are enjoying our time with that girl speaking that mysterious tongue that also Karin speaks.

At first, we were a little skeptic about a hotel where no other guests live, but at the end we are very satisfied with the choice we made. When we met the girl in the shelter, we both instantly liked her – which you know is quite untypical for a shy girl like Oreo and the just-hanging-around-in-his-concrete-tube-boy Gold. But actually, we hoped that we can get a place for us in the hotel “Kathrin”, because we felt that she also has her story like we both have and so we might understand each other better. At the end, she had some space for us, in her hotel and in her heart. Actually, we are not quite sure how long we can stay but we feel that this will be the holiday of our lifetime. If only we could speak her language to understand what “Euch geb ich nie wieder her” means.

So, what more to say? We have an all-inclusive package, which means we get meals every time we want. Oreo just picks up the bowl when it is empty and brings it to Kathrin. Also, we get cuddled every time we ask for it.

But most of the time we are hanging around in the garden, as there is so much to explore. Like Oreo just found out what that small little basin is good for – not only for attracting frogs for us to hunt, but also to have a cool bath on a very hot day.

Kathrin sometimes escapes from us in the big noisy thing, but always comes back, and we cheerfully welcome her. From time to time, we go on a bigger tour through the neighborhood – quite a few nice guys around here, but also some unhappy ones as they are never allowed to play with us outside.

And yes, as every couple, we also have our problems. Mainly, it’s about the food, as Gold always thinks that there won’t be enough for him. But Kathrin always remembers him that it’s only we two and none of you guys will disturb and pick him here.

And for sure, we gave Kathrin the appropriate time to get used to the new circumstances. We just let her be and didn’t bother her too much, knowing that she will come when she needs something. And only after a few days, we all were used to the new situation and were used to each others habits – you know, those humans have some strange attitudes – like loving to be chased around the house or wanting to search their shoes. But we do what we can to help her with that.

We are also allowing Kathrin to get visits from her friends and we adjust even better to it from time to time. One of them also has a small dog called Chocolate and she came to play with us.

So, this is it for now, we are about to go to sleep, which we do always close to Kathrin. We thought that because we don’t have to pay for anything here, we will watch her sleep. We are always very careful not to wake her up, because she enjoys snoozing just like we do.

Anyway, we want to give you one good hint with this postcard: You should also try to get a good hotel like this – just keep your eyes open for the next visitor of the shelter – it might be just as perfect for you as it is for us three.
