Hand to Paw visits Care for Dogs
On Thursday April 22 a group of enthusiastic Hand to Paw students from Prem
International School in Mae Rim visited the Care for Dogs facility in Hang Dong.
For the past year these two groups of animal loving individuals have forged a
partnership to support one another in the care and nurturing of homeless, injured,
sick and abandoned dogs.
A successful fund‐raiser organized by the students called “Down by the River” raised sufficient funds that enabled the students to make a monetary donation of 5000 baht to the Care for Dogs TvT programme, which will be used to sponsor the chemotherapy of little doggie Elvis.
Shortly after the Hand to Paw programme was initiated, we found Daisy, extremely ill with TvT sitting on the road outside Wat Nomplamong. With the care, support and expertise of Care for Dogs Daisy recovered fully and is now the “leader of the pack” at the temple she calls home.
Having established this positive partnership, both Hand to Paw and Care for Dogs are better able to support one another, sharing both time, expertise and funds to improve the lives of many dogs living in Chiang Mai.
Hand to Paw is particularly grateful to the folks at Care for Dogs for their encouragement
and willingness to share their expertise in order to make our student programme
successful and beneficial to the local communities in and around Prem International
School.

Karin are you holding Elvis in these photos??? If its him, i can’t believe how amazing he’s looking!
Hi Gemma, yes, it is Elvis!!! Isn’t it amazing how he has improved? The TVT tumor that had almost eaten up his face, has almost gone – thanks to the treatment of our vet, Dr. Tarn, and the loving care of wonderful volunteers like you and Michael! A big hug from little Elvis to you, Karin
Well Karin, that is the best news i’ve heard all week!! I can’t tell you how big the smile on my face is right now. To be honest, i really didn’t think little Elvis was going to pull through. His face was so horrifically open and raw from the disease and he was so weak and skinny.
Wow, what an amazingly strong little fighter he is! I’m so proud of him and happy that he will finally get to play out in the main area with all the others. His coat looks healthier and he looks like he’s putting on weight which is brilliant.
Give him a big squeeze and smile from me.
