Freedom – Dog of the Month – August
Meet freedom, he’s a beautiful German Shepherd, probably about 6 years old and looking for a new loving home. He came to the shelter through terrible circumstances, you can read the full story here…
Being a very confident German Shepherd, I’m sure he could make a fine job of protecting your property, but he’s much more than that.
What he really needs, and deserves, is to be the family pet too. He loves cuddles and company and going for a walk.
I fostered him for about 6 weeks, and he was the perfect house guest right from the moment he arrived, eagerly greeting everyone that came to visit him. He knows basic commands, he didn’t bark at the people passing my house and he loves to be bathed and groomed. He was very easy to have around.
I took him to the shelter for our Open Day, and he was unconcerned about all of the new experiences, taking it all in his stride, even when children from a local school were hugging up close, he’s a very laid back guy.
At first we thought that we wouldn’t separate him from his buddy, Hope, but after spending time at the shelter, we saw that they were happy mixing with other dogs and stopped relying on each other so much.
Freedom is a dominant male dog and will make other male dogs aware of this but he is a very sociable dog and would fit in very well with a female or two.
His fur is still recovering from the malnourishment he suffered so badly and his skin needs a special shampoo once a week, but apart from that he is fit, fully vaccinated and newly sterilised.
If you would like to consider adopting him please call 0847 52 52 55 or contact us by email.
Hope (Freedoms buddy) flies off to his new home in Holland in early September, but more about that another time!
