> Often I hear people talking about win-win relationships when it comes to deals or building up a partnership. Well, I don’t know about others but Care for Dogs is lucky to be really in such a win-win relationship and our partner in this relationship is called Hand2Paw.

To those who don’t know before of Hand2Paw, see their facebook account by clicking here…) or have look on the Hand2Paw – partner page on our CfD website see here… .

Hand2paw provides a number of abandoned dogs in temples around Mae Rim with much needed help and Care for Dogs appreciates Hand2Paws work so much. The area in and around Chiang Mai is not that small and finding trustful partners who take care on some remote areas is a real gift. Temples are traditional places where people abandon dogs and students and teachers of this project have chosen several temples in the surrounding of PTIS School to take care of.

Joy one of the leading characters of Hand2Paw made one more step – out of experience setting up a school project and coming into contact not only with one temple but about 6 temples right now, decision was made to share this knowledge.
May be other individuals or groups (may be you) think about what to do about those poor doggies in the temple next door, just not knowing how to start how it could be.

Well, some tips might help and here they are and even more than a few tips it’s a whole handbook or rather a guideline, created by competent people who know what they are talking about, not only painting a big picture but even giving detailed information what’s all about.

Take a look and if not you or your school may be others might profit from this guide, just click here to handbook… to google docs or here as .pdf: Hand to Paw Temple Dog Handbook-A4_V1.
If it helps you can download this handbook as .pdf file and share.

Again CfD likes to help a dog lover who cares about some doggies in her neighbourhood. This time it’ Sulin, here what she has to tell:

Cookie and Max are siblings that have spent their whole life together, so we are very keen to find them a home together. they have lived in an office and are very friendly, although a little shy around new people. now the office that has been their home is going to move and their position has become vulnerable so these two sweet dogs need a new home.

Cookie is very affectionate and golden in colour. She comes up to be stroked and cuddled. Max is more playful and likes to be scratched and cuddled. They are both medium in size. Max is neutered and both dogs have had a rabies shot. They have both had canine distemper, but they are fine now. They are about one and half years in age and though they are not yet house trained they are both very clever dogs and would learn quickly.

they are sweet and lovely dogs who would bring a lot of joy and happiness to any family. Cookie still needs to be neutered and they both still need some shots – these will be paid for by volunteer who is helping to find them a new home. If you can offer Cookie and Max a home, or foster them until the right home comes along then contact:
They gathered volunteers, asking for vehicles and renting boats to get into the flooded area.

This desaster takes a big toll from Thailand and all creatures living here not just humans and those people who find courage and energy to help those creatures who cannot help themselve earn not only our respect but our support, too.

Here’s the name of few of those teams that still need a support from us and we’re quite sure that they’re working effectively and very impressive.

1. Pic-A-Pet4Home
Right now,Pic-A-Pet4Home needs temporary homes for the flood affected animals. Many are still left in the houses without their owners. An ideal place is a warehouse with cement floor + electricity and water. We also need vinyl tents, big enough to accomodate lots of animals. The pet food is also running out and so is the cage.

One of this people is Charles Mills.
Here’s his story and a plea for help:

I have run into some people who have had a stray give birth to puppies on their property. They have taken care of them the best they can but seeing it is a bar they do not have the time to give the animals the attention they deserve. They are desperate to find a home hopefully for all the puppies and even the mother if possible.

Khun Suwy is a much loved neighborhood dog. She wanders from Tha Phae Gate to Loy Krow Rd all the way to the Night Bazaar. One day traffic ran her into Merin Bar where the ladies were nice to her so that is where she has decided to have her latest puppies.

They are about 6 weeks old and starting to eat real food. They are a sweet and loving bunch. 2 black and tan males, 2 black and tan females, and 3 tan females. The puppies are free to a good home.

We will accept donations to get Khun Suwy fixed if you would like to help, we need to raise 1200bht. The bar is on the moat end of Loy Krow Rd, 2nd bar on the right and is open every day.

Thank you

Contact Charles via email: charles@msnt.org or phone: 0829349110

Again Please send a protest letter against the Dog Meat Market to the Parliament in Thailand and to Thai + Vietnamese Embassies

The recent rescue of over 1.000 dogs from the dog meat traders near the Thai-Laotian border has highlighted the dog meat trade in Thailand and with neighbouring countries. According to intelligence gathered by police, traffickers, and local politicians, a minimum of 360.000 (!) dogs per year are smuggled through illegal river crossings (source: Huffington Post). Dogs also get slaughtered directly in Thailand for local dog meat markets, especially in the North East parts of the country.

The dogs that have been stolen or caught are crammed in tiny cages during their long transport to neighbouring countries without food and water. The lucky ones suffocate during the transport. The ones that finally arrive at their destination in Vietnam await shocking and cruel slaughtering methods: the dogs get often tortured for hours before being skinned alive as people think that the pain leads to the tenderizing of the meat.

Make your voice heard – protest politely against the Dog Meat Trade and for an introduction of the urgently needed new Animal Welfare Bill to protect animals from suffering incurred by human cruelty. The Bill has been jointly developed by TSPCA, Lawyers’s Council of Thailand, and the Livestock Department.

Could you e-mail your protest to the webmaster@parliament.go.th with attention to the House Speaker and then forward the message to info@thaispca.org, att. Mr. Sawan Sangbunlung, TSPCA’s General Secretary! Please see in this blog the letter that Care for Dogs has recently handed over to the House Speaker at the Parliament, just click here….

Furthermore we encourage you to send protest letter or e-mails to Thai or Vietnamese Embassies in your country expressing your outrage about the cruel dog meat trade.

*** UPDATE Maggie found a new home – thanks and good luck to Elena her new owner UPDATE ***

Roshan Dhunjibhoy, co-founder of Lanna Dog Rescue, passed away unexpectedly end of April this year (see here..). Most of her beloved dogs have found a home in the meantime but Maggie and Millie are still in urgent need of a home to call their own.

Maggy

Millie

Maggie has gorgeous eyes and a very sweet personality to go with it. She was once a skinny mangy dog planned to be sent to the dog meat market. Saved by Roshan and cared for with all the love and affection she could muster, Maggie is now a beautiful middle sized dog with long silky black fur. Roshan would always take such pride in showing friends and family the before and after pictures of Maggie.

Millie is a white female dog of medium height, middle aged, with lovely marine green eyes. Roshan brought her all the way from Pakistan. She had found her outside her house, her leg run over by a car in rush hour. Roshan nursed her to full health and adopted her as her own. Having found her on New years eve of the year 2000 she always called millie her millennium dog.

We are sure it would have been Roshan’s dearest wish that all of her dogs find loving individual homes. If you are interested in taking Maggie and/or Millie into your heart and home, could you please get in touch with Khun Wilaiwan (085-0407535 or lannadog2003@gmail.com) or Sue Lewis (081881 32 40 or suelewis@loxinfo.co.th)?
