Caroline - 3 legged German Shepherd - Can you give her a home
UPDATE
Caroline found a home yesterday (1 October)
Caroline is a 7 - 10 year old pure bred German Shepherd that was rescued recently to the shelter, after being dumped outside the home of a friend of Care for Dogs.
(Isn’t it amazing that when people know you love dogs, they will take advantage of that?)
She has had major surgery, long before being dumped and is now very well adjusted to having a rear leg removed. She is very able to get around and indeed she socialises with young, old, male and female dogs alike, in other words, a friendly and amenable dog.
This strongly suggests that Caroline was a family dog, loved and cared for. People showed this dog affection and spent a lot of money on her. So why did they just dump her?
She is mature and has possibly only a couple of years to live, as Alsatians typically only live around 12 years and it would be wonderful if someone could give her a place to call home for the last few years of her life.
Although she has only 3 legs, we are not classifying her as a ‘dog with special needs’ as she is a very able dog. With her social skills, she will be able to mix with a family that already have dogs and therefore offers herself as an ideal candidate for adoption to either a single or multi dog family.
Caroline is just one of many dogs awaiting adoption at the shelter of Care for Dogs. Can you find a place in your home for Caroline or any of the other wonderful prospective companions?
