Care for Dogs Foundation
At last after 3 years of working towards this goal, Care for Dogs has finally become a registered charity.
It’s been a struggle and Karin has been the person behind all this heavy work, liaising with lawyers and other parties to make this happen.
To give you some idea, here is a link showing some advice for groups seeking registration.
Managing to meet very important and rigorous requirements under Thai law, satisfying various levels of government office, responding and chasing endless clarifications and of course paying the appropriate processing fees, is a demanding task in itself but having ‘a day job’ at the same time can not have been easy.
Setting up a foundation requires a committee, a formal structure, independent accountant amongst other things and to establish these, has not been without difficulty.
Care for Dogs can now finally change it’s formal name to “Care for Dogs Foundation”.
Interestingly, the name was possibly one of the bigger hurdles to jump as the implicit concept was not something easily recognised by Thailand’s legal bodies.
So in order to appease and reach our objective, it was necessary to ‘design’ a Thai worded equivalent term to partner the English one.
‘Munity petak rak sat pua san com’ or “Foundation Protect Love / Keep Animal for Social” when translated into English from Thai, is slightly longer than we had envisaged but it certainly met with government approval.
So there we have it, Care for Dogs is now very pleased to become registered in Thailand and the certificate will be proudly displayed at our shelter.
The entire team would like to register a hearty congratulations to itself, especially Karin Hawelka for all her dedicated hard work, staying the course and never submitting to the ever present pressure to take the easy path.
Well done everyone !
