Blacky Gate update
In July 2007, Classic Cars of Lanna (CCL)visited the shelter during one of their regular Sunday Runs. Just prior to that event, Nico Thiel one of their members, suffered a terrible loss of his close friend and companion Blacky.
Blacky was always accompanying Nico where ever he went. Indeed, he became part of the Sunday Run’s and the other Classic Car enthusiasts welcomed him as a member too!
It was during that July Sunday Run that the group decided to make a collection in order to create a memorial of some sort at the shelter. After discussions between the 2 groups, it was agreed that the memorial would be in the guise of a gate into the shelter and along with it, a bell & a light.
In January 2008, CCL returned to the shelter in order to officially open “The Blacky Gate”. Sadly on that occasion, Nico could not be present but the gate was ceremoniously “opened”.
Today, Nico made a special visit to the shelter along with his new friend & companion Roady to not only see the gate in place but also to make a further donation by way of flea & tick control liquids which represented the remainder of the collection made by CCL. However, Nico being the very generous man he is, also handed Karin & Sarah a ceramic dog which Nico had been putting coins into for some time. (Karin later found the dog to contain in excess of 2,000 baht.)
